Many years ago while setting up an email account with an ISP I was asked what I would like my email address to be. I hadn't really thought about it much but at the time, email was still a rather anonymous form of communication and not the steadfast, cornerstone of messaging it is today. I thought immediately of one of my favorite songs by Billy Joel, "New York State of Mind". A quick think of the acronym in my head and an email name was born.

I grew up in Queens and Manhattan and although I am in Atlanta now, I consider NYC my home and I'm most comfortable and familiar with my home.  Billy Joel has long since been one of my favorite artists that I've followed through the years.  I recall spending a small fortune for amazing seats years ago when he came to Atlanta but my grandmother fell ill I of course went to visit her and gave away the seats. 

Not too long after that I created a couple of small business that seemed to have "nysom" in the name somewhere. After buying the domain name, it became my email address with many iterations from that point on. I have been contacted in the past about selling this domain name, once by a prior member of Billy Joel's band even and most recently by a young lady looking to build a NY Activities website.  

The site and use would have to be amazing. It is well worth $10 a year to keep my domain name and email address that friends and family have had for years. I've spent a lot more on a lot less.  So if you're contacting me to buy this site, please let it be a valid request for something that will be long standing and if you're specc'ing it out for any type of email blasting, I would need to be involved. It is, after all, what I do for a living!
